Dear Saints,
True Light Ministries wants to inform all those associated with this Ministry about the passing of one of our Board members, the Reverend Dr. Stanley Holbrook.
Rev. Stan was my Brother in the Lord, that I first met in high school. We were in the Scholar’s program at Peabody High School and both were also involved at some time together in Football and Orchestra.
More than a decade or so later, God had us come together again regarding Ministry. We worked together in Ministry ever since. He let me know that God told him to help me. So Rev. Stan did just that and helped me to become more than proficient in assisting Ministries with getting established.
Rev. Stan gave of himself tirelessly with any assistance in different Ministries and ran a nonprofit company for many years. He loved God and was a family man with great integrity. Also, he was quite a prominent and highly esteemed member of First Baptist Church of Penn Hills. He was part of the clergy and served faithfully in several capacities with Pastor James and Dr Sheila Hunt. He also had a personal Ministry titled ‘Workplace Ministry’ that aired on radio. Writing music and singing was another one of his God-given talents. This talent had him singing in his church choir and being in different gospel groups over the years, as well as performing one of his written songs on Channel 40.
Just a few more of his accomplishments were that he established at least six nonprofit companies for the City of Pittsburgh. And, because of his expertise in various Community Organizations and Sociological Studies in Housing and related matters, he was frequently called on for his much needed consultation. This bailiwick had him sitting on national committees and traveling frequently to be a speaker on different issues affecting urban communities. Even in his latter days, while dealing with his illness, he continued working, using Zoom meetings to consult with committees across the nation.
If more clarification was ever needed on Ministry matters, he was always there for me and would take up the slack. He and Evangelist Carla were the first Board Members for True Light Ministries, Inc. Having him on the Board was an honor and his presence and expertise guaranteed a continued solid foundation for the Ministry. He was quite a Scholar and vocalist, but much more importantly, he was a Great Man of God. He will be sorely missed, but it’s comforting to know that he is with the Lord. The Word of God rings true for Rev. Stan, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” (Psalms 116:15 KJV)
So Saints, please remember to keep Reverend Dr. Stanley Holbrook’s wife Michelle, and his entire Holbrook family in your prayers.
God Bless You, and may the grace of God, and the sweet communion of the Holy Ghost, rest, rule and abide now, henceforth, and forevermore as we move forward in this season.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Jerome O. Kirkland, Sr.
